Friday Update

Happy Friday! Today is post-op day 14 and I had to go get my third parking pass from the admissions office. I asked her to give me a 30 day pass so I won't have to get another one while we're here. I also forgot to mention that a couple of days ago when I arrived back at the hospital in the morning I scraped the side of our car on a post when I was trying to park in the tiny parking lot. I've been using the free valet service ever since then...

Not too much going on over here. This morning the doctors said that Drew's chest x-ray looks great! Yay! So they discontinued the CPT (chest physical therapy or tapping). They also discontinued the diuerel so Drew is only on 3 diuretics now and one IV antibiotic, potassium is down to twice a day again. Drew is now only taking motrin for pain every 8 hours, and fentanyl for the two dressing changes a day. He played at preschool this morning and went to see the train with Grandma, Ava and Aunt Lisa. He ate a good breakfast and lunch and has been sleeping now for about 2.5 hours. We had friends bring his bike from home so now he can ride it whenever he wants to. He's had a pretty good day and we hope he's in a good mood and ready to play when he wakes up.

Ava has been staying busy with her Grandma and I thought I'd share some pictures of her today. She is such a good girl and I think she's doing a great job of adjusting to being away from us so much. She loves the "yadies" at the hotel who bring her new towels and the yadies who get their nails done at the salon right next to the hotel. When we arrive at the parking lot, she shouts "hospital!" from her carseat. She does say she misses mommy daddy drew, but she's really been doing great. I am proud of her.

Here she is having breakfast in bed in the hotel

Ava is concentrating on her artwork

And being creative in how she holds her crayons

Looking at the peacock at the zoo with Grandma

At the zoo with Grandpa

Making us "hot coffee" in the playhouse at the hospital

Wearing her cool shirt in the playroom-lots of people are asking where I got it

Andrea,
You are my "She-Ro".
You are such a wonderful mommy..
Drew's progress brings us such joy, how great it is to see the sparkle in his eyes again! And Ava, who still has the hair of a teenager:), what a precious little girl, so adaptable and carefree. You are just blessed!
Thinking and praying for you, Dan, Drew, Ava, and your family...

Thanks for sitting with us tonight, it's also so great to see your smiling face and bright eyes (and that sexy prayer shawl!) You amaze me - you always look INCREDIBLE despite this tiring journey.

Day 14 sounded like Drew is doing great. Ava is such a doll. She doesn't look like a 2 year old.

Blessings
