We got Drew all snuggled in for the night. They restarted his feeds (they stopped them at 5 am) and he's got his Veggie Tales going, so hopefully he will have a peaceful night.
And here's a cute picture of Ava enjoying her chow mein with us last night.
Drew looks so precious in that picture. I wish for you that things were moving faster. It is so hard on everyone, even Ava. I'm glad that you have such a wonderful group of friends and great family to help you through this time. I pray for Drew everyday and will continue to do so. It breaks my heart to see any child endure these struggles. I hope that things progress quicker and you begin to see the Drew that you know and miss.
i found your site while looking for support groups in the bay area for parents with children with chds. my 2½ year old daughter will be undergoing open heart surgery this thursday at lucile packard.
just wanted to say that your family will be in my prayers. hope drew recovers soon.
Drew looks great, all snuggled in and ready for bed. I love that you are playing the veggie tales for him. I know this is a long hard road for you all and my heart goes out to you. Keep doing what your doing, cause thats the best thing for him. Your a wonderful momma and Drew is so lucky to have you. Get some rest sweetie!
that's cute! did someone bring that food in, or does the cafeteria have different food at night? that's off topic. i was really glad to see drew and get to pet him and love him a bit today. you're all doing such a great job, even ava with her insistence on picking up stray cheerios and tiny bits of trash to throw away. much love to the himmels!
Both of your babies look so precious! Drew looks so peaceful as he sleeps. We are continuing to pray HARD for all of you. I know these days can get long and difficult, but keep the big picture in mind. And I love what you wrote in one of your previous posts about Drew being "held" by Jesus. It's true! Hold onto that image. He is in the best hands!
Just caught up on the news after yesterday morning's blog. Glad to hear things seem to be going in the correct direction! And yes, I agree the doc should stay in with little Drew:) You are one strong family!!!! Praying for you guys!!!
I also found your site looking for support for parents with a chd child. My daugter also has DiGeorge, so it's nice to find other families that are going through the same struggles. Drew is such a handsome boy, and he seems to be so strong. You will be in my prayers, I truly hope that he is able to improve quickly and will be home with you soon. Hollie
We are all praying for Drew! His classmates miss him and even though they don't understand what it means to have heart surgery, they have that fabulous faith of children that God loves: God will make Drew better. We love you all and can't wait to see you and Drew! God Bless You! Love, all your friends in the Blessed Bumblebees class at First Covenant Preschool.
Drew is a happy 7-year-old who loves his family, his friends, and everything Star Wars! He was born with a CHD, specifically interrupted aortic arch, VSD, hypoplastic aortic root and DiGeorge Syndrome. He has had three open-heart surgeries, the most recent was in May 2008 at Stanford. He is so strong and brave and we are very proud of him.
Ava
Ava is a spirited 5-year-old girl. She loves her family, friends and climbing, jumping and dancing. She brings us a lot of joy and a lot of drama! She is heart healthy. We love to see all the adventures she has!
This is how Drew's heart is now!
One and a half ventricle repair 1) VSD closed with a patch 2) Conduit from right ventricle to pulmonary artery . Drew still has the SVC connected to the PA in the upper left. Thank you Dr. Hanley and Dr. Mainwaring!
