Drew had a very good night last night. He was able to sleep for about five hours straight. That should help him a lot. He still doesn't feel like eating much but that should come around soon enough.
Things seem to be moving a lot more quickly this morning. After my three hour nap I got to Drew's room and they had already removed a chest tube. Then the attending came by and wrote orders to pull the arterial line in his groin and the line in his neck. And, depending on the bed situation upstairs, we may be moved to the general cardiac floor later today.
Andrea was able to get some sleep last night and it helped that there wasn't anyone else in the room talking to her at midnight. Hopefully, this was the last night we will have to stay awake at his bedside because on the other floor a parent can actually sleep next to his bed in a pull-out chair.
Thanks to everyone who has been supporting us and praying for us. We definitely feel the love.

Good morning! Go Drew! Go Team! Go Xanax! It sounds like everything is moving along very quickly today. Hopefully that will be the case for the rest of the recovery. It's so good to see him looking more like himself.
Oh, and I think I have a crush on Dr. Hanley!
So good to see that he's making progress! We'll be praying that you guys get to move today. :-)
I didn't realize you had to stay awake at the bed side in the ICU. We used one of the pull out beds when Arianna was in the ICU. Actually, I even slept on the floor a time or two cause Robert didn't want to leave and we were only allowed one bed. We took turns but sometimes I felt bad cause he would pass out on the bed and we both couldn't fit too well so the floor became my bed. I wish they had a play like you guys have were parent could go sleep. At least you will be moving to the floor soon and won't have to leave Drew's side. I'm sure once those tubes come out he'll be a different boy.
Hugs!
Wow! I'm away from the computer for one day and Drew is so much better. It's so good to see him without so many IVs in him.
I love the video of him saying no to everything. I'm really happy to see our little Drew back.
I love the Mom dressing it's awesome. Super Cute!
Ella's munching my hand I better go.

man, it's always a good sign when i leave -- they start taking tubes out left and right! i could tell sleep wasn't happening, btw, so i drove back to sacto; sorry i won't get to see you guys today but i know we'll be praying for you at life group. and you were supposed to write that drew said "giraffe" to me! i forgive your poor sleep-deprived selves. love love love!
Loving the morning news! John & I really enjoyed our visit last night - I could see hints of the little Drew we all know & love. And, every day keeps getting better...John & Drew will be playing soccer & dinosaurs again before we know it!
Love to my peeps!

Hey Dan! I'm so glad to hear you all had a better night, and it sounds like as he moves to the cardiac floor, things will keep getting better. Thanks for the update, you guys are in our prayers daily.
Great news this morning! I knew things would start happening quickly. Drew, you are a star! Hoping you guys can get up to the floor today for more rest and comfort. The ICU is always so crazy.
xoxoxoxo
Yay for Drew! He is making such good progress! Well, at least it seems so; I don't really know much about these things!! Glad you were all able to get some rest and that Kate's insomnia came in use!!! Praying for the move to the third floor today....
What great news for all of you! I'm sure once he has fewer tubes into him, he'll start feeling a little more comfortable. Amazing what a good night of sleep can do for everyone!

YAY for sleep!! Thanks Dan for posting this one! We love to hear from you too!! Glad to hear that Drew may be moving today! WHOO HOO!!
Your post from yesterday about coughing being good for his lungs reminded me that bubbles worked well as exercise for Riley's lungs.
Sounds like things are really progressing rapidly! Hang in there!!
