Smoke

The smoke from the wildfires all over California has settled in the Sacramento valley. It has been awful. At times when I walk outside I think there must be a fire down the street because it so smoky. Everything looks orange as the sunlight is filtered through the smoke. You can see the thick smoke just looking across the street and it smells so strongly it almost chokes you. Needless to say the kids have been forced to stay indoors since Monday. It has also been well over 100 degrees. It's yucky! It is suppose to start clearing this weekend so hopefully we will have some relief soon.

In other news, Drew has been taking his lasix and aldactone only once a day since Wednesday and he is looking kind of puffy. We gave him his meds this morning and if he doesn't start looking better by this afternoon I think I may call the cardiologist.

Puffy face

Update: I called Dr. Parrish and he said to just put Drew back onto his twice daily lasix & aldactone. He said it might take another month before his body is ready to be off the diuretics so we are going to skip our x-ray next week. I'm glad it was something we could do over the phone and that he didn't make me bring Drew in for a bunch of tests.

Oh...little puff ball...maybe they'll just wean him a little slower. You know...our card has always talked about taking Isaac off his lasix...but, we're just not changing the dosage, so as he gains weight, he's weaning himself.

Let us know what they say. Hope the puff goes down and you guys can get outside this weekend!!!

Love,
Kathy

I just wanted to let you know that Drew's story is very encouraging for me even though I'm a grown man that was dx last year with peripheral neuropathy (motor, sensori and CIDP). Nothing like what Drew lives with. When I start down that slippery slope of feeling sorry for myself all I need to do is read your post or other's with much worse dx then me and I count my blessings and also pray for other's like Drew. I also wish I could get better on how to navigate Blogger like you have done. Finally, I can relate to what your going through in regards to the fire smoke. I live in Wildomar, Calif which is near Temecula/Murrieta/Lake Elsinore all very near to the fires that we had last year. Hang in there and thanks for the time you spend sharing Drew's story with the world. GB

I've been gone for a week or so, and I'm so excited to see that you guys are back home now!!! What a relief. You guys and especially Drew are still definitely in our prayers. Ty prays for him often...sometimes before meals, other times randomly during the day he'll just say "let's say some prayers"...I figure I'll follow his lead so we just drop whatever and say a few prayers. Drew is always on Ty's list =)

Much love,
Laurie

Be more specific on the "Sand Filter", that is not really what it is but you are close.

Yucky smoke! Hopefully that clears soon and the temp gets a little more tolerable, too.

The puffiness came and went with Elijah for a good month post-surgery. Lasix is wonderful! Things will normalize soon.

Take care! xoxo
