We had a busy weekend. It was filled with fun and normal things and it was a very welcome change! Friday the kids went to a birthday party for Abby who turned two! Dan enjoyed playing poker with his friends that night, while I hung out with some of the ladies. Then on Saturday I had a baby shower and Dan had a bike ride. Sunday I took Drew to church, then went straight to another baby shower for my good friend DeAnna, and then came home for about 45 minutes before I headed out again to celebrate my friend Jen's birthday at the Melting Pot. YUM.
Dan and Ava had to stay home from church because on Saturday Ava came down with a fever. It got up to about 102.5 but once she had motrin or tylenol she was acting pretty normal. It was only when she was really hot that she was cuddly (clingy) and took some extra naps. Her fever continued on Sunday but so far today it hasn't been back. But, I took both kids to the doctor today anyway. Drew is sounding congested to me and Ava was still acting pretty cranky and I thought I might as well have them checked out. Especially since we were warned to take immediate action if Drew gets a fever.
So I took them both to see Dr. Bullen and of course as soon as we got to the doctor's office they were both happy and playing and full of energy. I guess nothing makes them feel miraculously better like having me drive thirty minutes in traffic to the doctor and shelling out $40 for a copay does. Ava did have some spots in her throat which the doctor cultured and tested negative for strep. He thinks she's at the end of her illness. Drew had nothing wrong with him, but he said it could be the beginning of a cold and to do normal cold treatments--fluids, moist air, etc. If he does develop a fever, since we know Ava just had one we can watch him carefully. But we were warned to bring him in if anything else is going on. His puffiness is better, but I can still see some around his eyes. And his veins on his stomach and chest are very prominent. At cardiology the doctor said that could be caused by a clot somewhere, but that it wasn't something to worry about. But the pediatrician said today to keep an eye on it and let him know if it gets worse.
This morning Drew started a week of vacation Bible school. He had a lot of fun and his two buddies, Jacob & Eben, are in his class. While he was there I headed back to the gym for the first time in two months! I hope he can attend the rest of the week, but I guess we'll just have to wait and see...

i psychically knew that ava was going to get a fever, remember? i'm glad she's at the end of it and i hope drew stays well. i'm looking forward to any new kickboxing/cardio/hyperfantastic bootcamp moves you are going to show me right in my face.
Glad that Ava's getting over her fever! I'll be praying that it stays away from Drew.
I hope the illnesses stay away. It's no fun having to be on your toes all the time and constantly looking out for every little thing.
Smooch those cuties for me! xoxo
Yeah I love taking Lexi and have her make me look like a crazy mommy! But, especially in your case right now, it's better to be safe than sorry!!! Love that Dr. Bullen, it's a pretty good guy! Glad your lives are going back to normal:) Take care!!
