Christmas Tree

Every year on the day after Thanksgiving, I put all the Christmas decorations up in the house. Then I try to convince Dan to put up the lights. Usually I am not successful, but this year he did it! I think it helped that the kids started asking him to put the lights up before Thanksgiving! They saw one house in our neighborhood that had their lights up EARLY, and that's all it took for them to start asking Daddy for lights.

Usually, we wait a while to get our Christmas tree. We like having a live tree and worry about it staying fresh all the way until Christmas. We had planned on waiting until this weekend to get our tree, but once again, the kids started making daily requests for a Christmas tree. So we decided to get it on Tuesday. We used to try and make a family trip to a tree farm and choose and cut a tree down ourselves. But since Costco started carrying them we can't justify the expense of cutting down your own tree! So we headed out to Costco and tried to turn it into a fun family experience, even though we were getting our tree from a warehouse store!

We listened to Christmas music on the way there and got (relatively) bundled up. We began looking for our tree, but the first one we unwrapped was the perfect tree for us! We got it all loaded up and even asked the Costco guy to take our family picture with our tree.
When we got home we changed into our Christmas jammies, put on some Christmas music, and decorated it even though it was late. The kids had so much fun hanging each ornament, it was really so much fun! The tree looks so pretty with the lights and ornaments and it smells so good! We all love waking up and going out to see our beautiful Christmas tree.

no kidding. i stood in front of a bucket of wreaths thinking the same thing...about it staying "fresh". but i should've realized it's going to be in the 20s at night until Christmas and WHAT WAS I THINKING?
