If You Want Me To

I wanted to share this song because it is so meaningful to me. I love what it says, but I can't sing it without crying. We sang it in church this Sunday and I broke down into tears again. I hope that someday, when I've fully accepted our situation, I'll be able to sing it.

If You Want Me To
by Ginny Owens

The pathway is broken
And the signs are unclear
And I dont know the reason why you brought me here
But just because You love me the way that You do
I will go through the valley If You want me to

CHORUS:
Now I'm not who I was When I took my first step
And I'm clinging to the promise
You're not through with me yet
So if all of these trials bring me closer to You
I will go through the fire If You want me to

It may not be the way I would have chosen
When you lead me through a world that's not my own
But You never said it would be easy
You only said I'll never go alone

So when the whole world turns against me
And I'm all by myself
And I can't hear You answer my cries for help
I'll remember the suffering Your love put You through
And I will go through the valley If You want me to

Andrea... reading this post really touched me. Worship was so difficult for me on Sunday because of a bunch of silly technical details (e.g. - we had to create the PowerPoint slides b/c they didn't get done, my monitor went out and I couldn't hear anyone when we were playing, etc.). I left church feeling frustrated that I didn't have enough faith just to hand all that silly stuff to God and just enjoy worshipping Him! But this is proof that God will touch people in the congregation with these songs even despite my weaknesses and mistakes. Thanks for this! It is an amazing song... isn't it?

Here's the Matt Redman song that I can't currently sing without falling apart:

Blessed Be Your Name
In the land that is plentiful
Where Your streams of abundance flow
Blessed be Your name

Blessed Be Your name
When I'm found in the desert place
Though I walk through the wilderness
Blessed Be Your name

Every blessing You pour out
I'll turn back to praise
When the darkness closes in, Lord
Still I will say

Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your name
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your glorious name

Blessed be Your name
When the sun's shining down on me
When the world's 'all as it should be'
Blessed be Your name

Blessed be Your name
On the road marked with suffering
Though there's pain in the offering
Blessed be Your name

Every blessing You pour out
I'll turn back to praise
When the darkness closes in, Lord
Still I will say

Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your name
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your glorious name

You give and take away
You give and take away
My heart will choose to say
Lord, blessed be Your name

Jane-You crack me up! That's my other guaranteed tear-jerker song in church. We are very much alike!
